Pole-dancing!
mood: Excited
Went for a trial pole-dancing class that my sister's friend arranged for us today, and it was so so fun! I'd already heard lots of good things about pole-dancing, especially since C loves it, so I'd always been curious to try but never had the guts to do so - it always seemed like such a sexy and sensual activity that I thought I'd be too embarrassed to try it. But when my sister told me about this trial lesson I decided to just cast my reservations aside and give it a go and I'm so glad I did!
Now I finally understand what C was saying when she was trying to convince me that pole-dancing isn't really as hard as it looks. Of course, it's really difficult to reach the level of the professional pole-dancers you see out there, but it's quite easy to pick up the basics, and even though the lesson was only one hour we managed to learn a move called the Geisha that look quites impressive and yet was surprisingly easy to learn (though not to master! :p). My sis said she thought I looked quite natural doing the Geisha, but I definitely look nowhere near as sexy as she did when doing the whole routine. (She says it's all thanks to her salsa lessons since that's another very sensual dance.) Plus she's really adventurous and loves to try improvising moves, which I thought was really impressive. Her friend even joked that she was like a monkey since she was so versatile. :p
One bad thing about pole-dancing is that you will definitely get abrasions/bruises on your thighs, and I have a feeling that my arms and/or shoulders will be aching tomorrow since you have to use your arms to support your body alot. It's definitely a good workout though! Plus I think the more you practise, the more it makes you feel comfortable with your body, especially when you do things you never realised you could do before.
Now I'm definitely interested in trying to take up the classes regularly, but I have no idea if I'm going to be able to convince my friends to join me. Too bad C's going back to Australia, but even though she's probably way more advanced than me that we won't be able to take the same level of classes together. I suppose if I really wanted to I could be brave and try to join a class on my own, but it won't be as much fun. *sigh* [Karma: -1 (+/-)][link] [600 Comments]
