Free Money! :p
mood: Happy

Was checking my UOB bank account balance today to see if my friend's transaction had gotten through, when I found out that I got my bribe growth dividend from the government today! It came as a total surprise since I hadn't fully read up on the Budget Speech (I keep putting it off), and although I knew that they were going to give payouts to us, I wasn't expecting it to come so soon. So I was really happy to see it! :D

For those who haven't been keeping up with the news, you can find out about the growth dividends here.

Ironically, it seems like the bank my friend's hubby (I still can't get over the fact that I have a married friend. O_O) used to transfer the money to me screwed up since he's got a receipt for the transaction but I haven't received the money yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he manages to sort it out!

The evils of Wikipedia
music: Wake Up - Gokudo-kun Manyuuki ED
mood: Hungry

Thank you, Wikipedia. I do NOT need to be distracted into reading about all manner of things from Gurkhas to Nepal to runaway elephants in Pulau Tekong* when I'm supposed to be doing work. Whatever happened to my break just being a "short" one? -_-

*I like that Malaysia actually has a Malaysian Wildlife Department's Elephant Capture and Translocation Unit (ECTU). You wouldn't think that there were that many rogue elephants running around the country to warrant a special unit of its own. Talk about specialisation!

Essay blues now more of a lighter blue
music: Shattering of the Dream Egg - Xenogears OST
mood: Revved up

Well, it seems like yesterday's ploy worked somewhat. I think I'm getting the hang of my essay. I've managed to solidify my core skeleton, at least ('twas a bit jelly-ish before), and the reading's going pretty well. (Reading articles in out-dated language can be amusing.) I shall just keep my fingers crossed that when I buckle down to do the essay proper that the writing comes naturally as well.

Random toilet humour: Just came back from the washroom where I could actually *cough* hear that someone had a really full bladder since the tinkling sounds just seem to stretch on forever. :p It reminded me of this story a classmate once told me involving her and another classmate. (A and B respectively) So A and B were in their respective cubicles in the school toilet together, when A noticed that someone was being particularly, erm, noisy. So she said out loud, "B, you pee really loudly." to which B replied, "Huh? That's not me." and A was all O_O oh crap! and was so embarrassed that she waited until that unnamed person had walked out of the toilet before she left her own cubicle. :p

Another random note: Blogging is so much easier (and comes so much more frequently) when I don't stress myself out about having actual content in my entries and just write stuff of no consequence. Why do I keep forgetting this simple principle?

Essay writing blues
music: Eyes on Me - Faye Wong (FFVIII Theme Song)
mood: Cringey

Ugh. I decided to set a goal of finishing at least two pages of my essay by today, ignoring the quality of whatever I write, since the idea is that for this very first draft, quantity can come first and quality control can come later when I'm fine-tuning the essay. I'm hoping that doing so will help me get into the swing of things, since although I've finally reached that state regarding the research end of things, the same isn't so for the actual writing itself.

And whilst it seems to be working somewhat, the English snob in me cringes at the craptastic-ness of what I'm churning out. I think it's just an ingrained trait. I KNOW I shouldn't be nit-picking at the way things are phrased, since that just wastes more time now and it's something that's supposed to be done later, but I just can't seem to help myself. *sigh*

Ultimate goal: To pass up all my essays by the 30th. If I achieve this, it'll probably be the first time I ever passed up any of my essays before the deadline instead of on the day itself (or a few days late).
