GRRRRRRRAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR
music: Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes (Tiff, you got me liking this song now. -_-)
mood: pissed
Argh, I am so pissed at myself. I planned to wake up early to submit my optional module form on 23rd April when it opened, since I was told by my seniors that one of the modules I wanted to do was really popular and had very limited spaces. But I ended up forgetting to do it early and, coupled with internet problems, could only submit the form about 6pm on the same day.
And now I find that the Criminal Justice and the Penal System module, which I REALLY wanted to do, has been filled up AND I AM FRICKIN' 20TH PLACE ON THE WAITING LIST.

Weirdness
music: Karma - Tales of the Abyss OP
mood: Weirded out
I am extremely weirded out. I decided to check my exam timetable again today since I wanted to note down the dates in my organiser. When I last checked the timetable some weeks ago, it was all fine, with the right number of modules that I'm taking listed on it, but when I looked at it today, there's an extra Physiology and Pharmacology exam on it!? Since when did I ever sign up to do a Science module? 0_o [Karma: -4 (+/-)][link]

Travesty!
mood: WTF
... I think a travesty has just been committed.
In this article, apparently it seems that a RAP VERSION of William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" poem has been made in an attempt to boost his appeal to the younger generation. And they even came up with a squirrel mascot (rather unfortunately named McNuts) to rap the song in a video, probably to appeal to those all us frequent users of Youtube. (Though I must admit it's kind of cute, albeit a bit weird, to see a gigantic squirrel rolling around in the grass and snapping his fingers. :D)
It boggles the mind, really, to think that they would seriously think this move is going to make his poetry more appealing to the younger generation. First off, I'm slightly annoyed that they think all us young 'uns have been completely brainwashed by hip hop and funky rap culture, to the point that we're unable to appreciate any other kind of art or entertainment, and second of all, the fact that they're not really considering how much of a laughingstock the McNuts name could be kind of implies that they're pretty much out of touch with their perceived audience. (Either that or just not thinking very much)
Maybe I'm making too much of a deal out of this, but ugh, Wordsworth rap? What next? A reality TV show where they groom aspiring young American Idol wannabes to sing pop versions of Shakespeare's sonnets? [Karma: 6 (+/-)][link] [2 Comments]

What type of nerd are you?
mood: Taken Aback
What? My anime nerdiness doesn't come first? 0_o *is shocked* (I suppose it's because this quiz consider anime nerds to be more actively involved in cosplaying etc, which I don't do)
Sidenote: Never, EVER talk about durians with your friends on MSN. It'll make you want to eat some. >_< (Why do I torture myself so? *sigh*) [Karma: -5 (+/-)][link] [1 Comment]

Your Result: Literature Nerd Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Just received an email from an uncle who sent a powerpoint presentation to my family and other related extended family/friends as a sort of Easter digital greeting card, with pictures of his grandaughter (my niece) along with Easter pictures and music. The cynical side of me wonders whether under the veneer of good will, he's actually being sneaky and taking advantage of the situation to do his usual "let's impose catholicism on everyone we can get our hands on!" schtick. Considering the fact that the presentation has embedded music files such as a song that goes "I have decided to follow Jesus!" and has pictures of my niece next to text that says stuff like "I'm all dressed up in my Sunday best! See you at church!" when he knows full well that almost my entire immediate family is not Catholic/Christian, I'd say it's possible. With any other person it could be just an overenthusiastic grandfather who doesn't really think through his actions clearly, but there was also that incident in the past where he thoroughly ticked off my dad by asking him, "If you're not Christian, do you think it's all right to kill people?" after which my dad vowed to never have anything to do with him ever again.
I have nothing against Christianity or Catholicism. The Catholic or Christian friends I know are all wonderful people. I just wish there wouldn't be these kinds of people who give the religion a bad name by constantly trying to force this religion on others even though it's already been made clear that such advance are not welcome. And it's all the worse when it comes from a relative whom you're forced to be polite to. *sigh* [Karma: 0 (+/-)][link] [No Comments]

*melts from the utter cuteness of it all*
music: Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto OST 1 (Ha! I managed to spell it right without cheating!)
mood: dead
Omg, this is so incredibly cute! *squee*
It kind of reminds me of my JC days when we had Econs lectures and whenever you looked over at my class you could see a whole row of us with our heads nodding back and forth from sleeping. :p
EDIT: Pssst, another cute one. Non-neko, but really adorable too. But nothing beats the koneko one. :p
And since I'm on a cuteness kick:
Internet Explorer and Firefox
Otters! (You HAVE to watch till the end!)
And now for something different:
More funny than the actual video itself are the comments, some of which are utterly retarded. :p [Karma: 5 (+/-)][link] [3 Comments]

OMGWTFBBQ
music: Mugen no Kaze - GeSANG from Ayashi no Ceres drama cd
mood: shocked
Good GRIEF, Singapore is already so overcrowded, and now they want to add another 2 million more immigrants!?
This reminds me of how I once heard from someone (possibly my sister? I'm not sure) that LKY set a goal of doubling Singapore's then 4 million population sometime in the future. This makes it so much more concrete.
(Help us, we're all going to die from overcrowding. Just look at the Orchard MRT underpass at ANY time of the day for proof.)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT ACCEPTED FOR THE STUDENT ASSISTANT ROLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*bounces around the room*
Some background explanation: I applied to be a student assistant for the Welcome Programme that my Uni has every year for International students - basically it takes place one week before Fresher's week and it's for International students to have more time to get used to Uni life and settle down since obviously it's tougher on them having to come to a completely new country.
Anyway, I think I've had a lot of incredible luck with this application - we were told that about 180 people applied for 40 positions, and initially when a couple of friends who had also applied told me that they had already gotten invitations to an interview and I hadn't, I was pretty much resigned to the fact that I hadn't gotten a place. But a few days before the very last interview they were having (they didn't say so but I could tell it was the last), I received a letter in the post telling me I'd gotten a place in the interview. (Kind of weird how they didn't notify me by email but only post, but oh well, I'm not complaining) I didn't think of it then, but on hindsight I think it may possibly have been that someone decided to drop out last minute and that's why I got such late notification.
So I went for the interview, which was a group one, and although I absolutely LOATHE interviews to my very core (I pretty much blank out and start spewing rubbish that makes me look like a loser), this one was actually pretty fun since it wasn't so much an interview but more of a pseudo-group teamwork session where they'd split us up into two groups and then analyse how each person worked in a team. The first task they set us was to set up a problem question (what to do when the buses meant to shuttle students from the airports to the Unis broke down) and ask us to set up a presentation on how to solve said problem, then they shuffled the groups around a bit and for the second task gave us a question to debate (Whether exams should be wholly abolished and coursework should be substituted instead), though again it was more like a group presentation than a debate.
A week after the interview I ended up receiving a letter telling me that I hadn't made it, but that I'll be placed on the waiting list should anyone decide to drop out. And now someone has! And I've gotten the position! Talk about luck! *glee*
I don't actually know why I want this position so much - other than the usual materialistic "It'll look good on my CV", of course. :p I mean, they pay us a sum but it's not the reason why I want to join - since really, I've heard that the amount of work the assistants have to do is way more than the remuneration we get. (Digression: I will forever remember the word remuneration because it cropped up in an Econs exam once and I nearly died since I didn't know what it meant, and it was pretty much the focus of the question) I think maybe it's because I really want to be able to help out the first-year students? I know how lost and totally bewildered I was when I first came to Notts - it was really an entirely different experience for me, even with my family around. And also I suppose I just want to do something productive - I feel like I've been wasting my life away (like I did last summer. -_-), so it'll be good to actually have something to do before school starts.
Whatever the case though, I'm really glad to have gotten the position. :D [Karma: 5 (+/-)][link] [4 Comments]
